Andrzej Sapkowski is a Polish fantasy writer and former economist. He is best known for his best-selling book series The Witcher. In 2012 Sapkowski was awarded the Medal for Merit to Culture - Gloria Artis. It began with the publication of Last Wish in 1990 and was completed with the standalone prequel novel Season of Storms in 2013. The saga has been popularized through television, stage, comic books and video games, and translated into 37 languages, making him the second most-translated Polish science fiction and fantasy writer.
