Vishnu Sakharam Khandekar was a Marathi writer who was born in 1898 in Sangli, Maharashtra. He was a school teacher who, in his spare time, produced a large body of work in Marathi, in the form of novels, plays, essays, and short stories. His other works include Hrudaychi Hk, Pahile Prem, Soneri Swapne Bhangali, Eka Panachi Kahani, and Pndhare Dhag. V S Khandekar received numerous honors for his literary achievements. These include the Sahitya Akademi Award, the Jnanpith Award for Yayati, and the Padma Bhushan.
