Wendell Berry is an American novelist, essayist, conservationist, professor of English and poet. He was born August 5, 1934 in Henry County, Kentucky. He has been honored with the T. S. Eliot Prize, the Aiken Taylor Award in Modern American Poetry, the John Hay Award of the Orion Society, the Dayton Literary Peace Prize and Richard C. Holbrooke Distinguished Achievement Award, among others.
