About the Author: Dr Amitav Banerjee MD and Post Doctoral in Epidemiology is currently Professor Emeritus at Dr DY Patil Medical College Pune. He has over twenty years experience in the Indian Armed Forces as a field epidemiologist. He also headed the Mobile Epidemic Investigation Team at the Armed Forces Medical College Pune from 2000 to 2004 during which period he investigated outbreaks of pneumonia rubella typhoid food poisoning hepatitis E and malaria in tribal and counterinsurgency pockets. During his military service he was awarded for his work in Tribal Malaria and Hepatitis E.
