About The Book
Description
Author
We frequently overlook the author of the original lines in George Orwells renowned parody of the Russian Revolution since it is so prevalent in our modern culture. It tells the story of how Mr. Jones Manor Farm becomes Animal Farm a wholly democratic society built on the tenet that All Animals Are Created Equal. Napoleon Squealer and Snowball the pigs emerge as the leaders of the new community through a long evolution that has an eerie familiarity. But Some Animals Are More Equal Than Others is the bloodstained epilogue to the founding phrase which follows the vicious betrayal of the devoted horse Boxer and results in the restoration of totalitarian rule. In his book 1984 George Orwell paints a picture of a drab totalitarian society run by Big Brother and his vast network of agents including the Thought Police. In this society the news is produced to suit the needs of the ruling elite and individuals follow the same routines in their daily lives. Winston Smith is a hero without heroic qualities who only seeks truth and decency. But he realises that he has no chance because he lives in a society where there is no such thing as privacy and people who have strange ideas are either brainwashed or killed. Although 1949 has gone George Orwells nightmare depiction of the society we were building is still regarded as the greatest modern classic illustration of a dystopian Utopia.
