As a highly condensed poetic form the three-line poem embodies the principle of simplicity embracing complexity. Since the announcement of the call for submissions we have received a vast number of three-line poems from Chinese-language poets across the globe. Though brief in form these poems are rich in theme and meaning: some draw inspiration from nature capturing fleeting moments of mountains rivers and plants to mirror deep emotion and reflection; some begin with details of everyday life uncovering truth and humanity amid the ordinary; others explore innovation in form and language seeking to maximize rhythm imagery and tension within the confines of three lines.
