Written at the beginning of the 2nd century the text known as 4 Baruch (or Paraleipomena Jeremiou) reflects the situation in Palestine on the eve of the Bar-Kokhba War by retelling the story of the Babylonian captivity of the Jewish people. This volume presents the Greek text along with a new English translation. Commentary by Herzer (theology U. of Leipzig) places the text within its historical and literary setting and offers a theological interpretation of its religious ideas. Annotation 2006 Book News Inc.
