While staying with Mrs. Corfield Lady Evelyn meets and falls in love with the local doctor Richard Lilian. However their love is complicated by their different social statuses and the disapproval of Lady Evelyns family and friends. Lady Evelyn must decide whether to follow her heart and pursue a life with Richard or to remain loyal to her privileged upbringing and social expectations. A Change of Air is a novel that reflects Anthony Hopes interest in exploring the themes of love marriage and social class.
