In The Spirit Of Stejneger & Barbour And Karl Schmidt Fouquette & Dubois Present Volume 1 (Amphibians) Of A New Edition Of A Checklist Of The Herpetofauna Of North America. This Will Be Followed By Volume 2 Reptiles. This Checklist Is Much Improved Over Earlier Editions Providing More Extensive Synonymies And Complete Citations Of All Literature. The Format Of Synonymies Is Expected To Be Easier To Follow Than More Traditional Ones. Taxonomy Is Conservative And Subgenera Are Used Extensively In Some Families. One New Subgenus And A New Epifamily Are Described Otherwise Such New Nomina Are Avoided Though There Are A Number Of New Combinations Due To Use Of Subgenera Including Some Revived Names.
