A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF HUMAN AND NON-HUMAN HAIR SAMPLES FROM DELHI

The work titled A Comparative Study of Human and Non-Human Hair Samples from Delhi explores the microscopic and elemental differences between human and animal hair to aid forensic investigations. Through comparative analysis using both physical and chemical methods including microscopic examination and SEM-EDX (scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray analysis) the study characterizes unique traits in hair from various species such as humans dogs cows cats and buffaloes. The research aims to assist in source identification of hair evidence at crime scenes. It highlights the significance of hair morphology and elemental composition in forensic science particularly in cases where hair is one of the few biological traces available. Findings indicate clear interspecies variation with specific cuticle patterns medullary structures and elemental markers unique to each species enhancing the reliability of hair as a forensic tool.
