A History of Wag 1941-1991

About The Book

This book gives a historical account of Wag District of Ethiopia for the period between 1941 and 1991. As one of the districts which had historically enjoyed local autonomy Wag experienced political changes when Emperor Haileselassie took the measure of centralizing power especially after 1941. Consequently Wag''s politics became an instance of increasing the reach of the central power at the expense of local autonomy. Moreover the book discusses how Wag had became exposed to the perils of continuous drought and famine which eventually had made it to be one of the reference areas for drought and famine recurrence in the country. The book thus will be a good read to any reader interested to look into an aspect of local history in Ethiopia.
