A Man After God's Own Heart

When speaking to the prophet Samuel one day God made a statement that men have been struggling to fully understand ever since. He said that the youngster named David was a man after His own heart and that because of it David had been chosen as <i>captain over his people.</i> Later God told David himself that his heirs would rule <i>forever.</i> What does all of that mean? What made David so different from his predecessor Saul? Why was Saul rejected as being king over Israel and David chosen to take his place?
