About The Book

Laura Broad is a wealthy and successful businesswoman who owns and manages a successful real estate company. She is strong-willed ambitious and unapologetic about her desires and choices which often puts her at odds with the social conventions of her time. Laura is also very attractive and has a reputation for being a mans woman able to charm and seduce any man she desires. The novel follows Lauras relationships with two very different men: Walter Longman a successful businessman and longtime friend and Van Vorst a young and idealistic writer. Walter is deeply in love with Laura and hopes to marry her but she is hesitant to commit to a conventional relationship. Van Vorst on the other hand is drawn to Lauras independence and free-spirited nature but his idealistic views clash with her pragmatic approach to life. As Laura navigates her relationships with these two men and the societal expectations that come with them she also faces personal and professional challenges that threaten to undermine her success and independence. She struggles to balance her desire for love and companionship with her drive for achievement and financial security. A Mans Woman is a complex and nuanced portrayal of a strong and unconventional woman in a time when womens roles and expectations were changing rapidly. Norriss writing style is realistic and naturalistic reflecting his journalistic background and his characters are vividly drawn and multi-dimensional. The novel explores themes of love independence ambition and societal expectations and offers a thought-provoking commentary on the role of women in society and the challenges they face in pursuing their goals and desires.
