A Memoir

<p>This is a story about my life--a sojourn that began at the age of four at the hand of my alcoholic mother and then twisted and turned throughout time and space. The chaos eventually included the decade-plus astutely spent with my partner-in-time David Ruffin-- lead singer of The Temptations. My memoir is shared with love and sadness and hopefully a bit of humor and profundity.</p><p>The story includes a glimpse into my early life with the intention of illustrating how it happened that I was already programmed into the "victim" consciousness before he and I met. This made the move into an abusive relationship with David just a natural extension of reality as I knew it to be--love was pain.</p><p>It was a struggle to both love David and to maintain sanity which was precarious at times as well as spare some sorely needed and well-deserved attention for Little David</p><p>Yet I am frequently reminded and so remind the reader that David was only human --a struggling soul. He was a beloved child of God whose particular hell-on-earth was to act jovial while battling many powerful demons. He was a child of God who lost the battle-but not the war.</p>
