A MORPHOLOGICAL STUDY OF CRAFT TERMS IN BRO AND BABA'S DICTIONARY OF HAUSA CRAFTS

About The Book

The book examines the closeness that exists between morphology and lexicography in the rendering of Hausa craft terms as headword entries in Broβ and Baba (1996) a Dictionary of Hausa Craft Terms. In the causes of the doing so elegant morphological theories were examined and a blend of Abubakar (2001) and Newman (1996) was adopted. Statistics was used to ascertain the Hausa morphological processes involved in the rendering of the headword entries according to the dictates of Hausa morphological processes. The validity exercise conducted through field work reveals the impact of modernity and technology on the survival of some of the Hausa crafts documents by Broβ and Baba in 1996 and the current trend.
