Communicative English is included in the syllabus of technical colleges to develop soft skills in students to make them employable. The gaps identified in the personal and professional needs of learners show that the existing syllabi teaching resources methodology of teaching and assessment mechanism followed in most engineering colleges do not help skills acquisition in mixed-ability classrooms.
