However the town's prosperity comes with a hidden cost. Eighty years ago a pact was forged between Jack Carver his associates and a Native American tribe to sell land for development. Unbeknownst to Sheriff Jake Carver this pact carried a curse: the town's population must never exceed 1000.</p><p></p><p>As the town grows it begins to reach this population limit and mysterious deaths ensue. Jake the grandson of the town's founding member starts to investigate these seemingly ordinary but sinister deaths. His quest for truth becomes even more urgent as he teams up with his new assistant who is related to the tribe that helped draft the pact.
