Above all it draws attention to those factors which can tip the scales.. The wide range of views and experiences presented are intended to reassure parents and make it easier for them to decide which path to take.. The book has been written for the layman who is interested in biligualism but has no knowledge of linguistics. It is in particular for the increasing number of couples with different mother tongues who have or plan to have a family and for those friends or relatives who may be critical of children growing up with two languages.
