A Perspective on Mathematics Education In Context Of India

Mathematics education has been playing a significant role on intellectual development of the entire humanity. It enhances effectiveness in building mental discipline logical reasoning and mental rigor for which it has been accepted as a compulsory subject in school education across the globe till tenth standard. In Indian sub-continent from Zakir Hussein committee 1937 till NEP 2020 all the policies on education reveal the increasing importance of mathematics education and emphasized too. But still our nation is lagging behind in numeracy skills as reported in ASER-2018 which is definitely a matter of serious concern. As mathematics education is yet to be introduced as an independent discipline in Indian universities it is urgently required to disseminate its problems and potentials every nuke and corner of the nation in today’s high-tech world. In this context the author attempts to present a perspective very comprehensively on mathematics and various issues related to mathematics education especially at school level through this book so that this perspective can be acquainted to a large number of people from both academics and research.
