The Masuku Mission area is located in Choma district of southern province of Zambia. It is underlain by lithostratigraphic units of the Mesoproterozoic age Choma-Kalomo Block which is part of the southern extension of the Irimide Mobile Belt. Geological events in the Choma-Kalomo Block are dated between 1600 and 950Ma. Pegmatites of the study area are part of the Sn-bearing pegmatites of the Choma-Kalomo Tinbelt of Southern Province Zambia and are an important potential source for tin tantalum gemstones and Rare Earth Elements (REE).
