A Posture of Defence

Using mostly contemporary documents and letters this short book tells the story of the intermittent building (on and off) for one hundred years of Chatham's 'Lines' - the Lines of Fire which would have defended the Royal Dockyard from an attack over land expected almost daily during the Seven Years' War the American Revolution and the Napoleonic War.
