A Purgatory of Misery

<p>An in-depth study of the events leading up to the Irish Potato Famine in the latter half of the 19th century. This is a deeply researched and well-written book. I was expecting it to focus almost entirely on the famine years. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it covers much broader topics which help to put the famine into historical political social economic and religious perspective.</p>
