Caraka Samhitha has described that Kṣārasūtra should be used in curing Fistula-in-ano (Bhagandara). Bhagandara is a type of chronic sinus in the perineum that discharges pus or blood. It not only the includes different types of fistula-in-ano but also the sinuses communicating to uro-genital tract.
