A Sermon Delivered Before the Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

<p>This is a sermon delivered by Jedidiah Morse before the Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at a public installation of officers of the Corinthian Lodge in Concord Middlesex County on June 25 1798.</p> <p>Jedidiah Morse (1761-1826) was a clergyman and geographer. He was the father of Samuel Morse the inventor of the telegraph. Morse was a leading member of the Federalist party and a staunch opponent of the Enlightenment and the French Revolution.</p> <p>This sermon provides insight into the social and religious values of Freemasonry in late 18th-century America.</p><p>This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
