A Shadow's Lullaby

I always thought I knew where my path would take me. As an orphan there weren't many options and as a mage there were even less. I would live out the rest of my life as a healing mage taking care of the same people I have always known. But then he came and suddenly a new path appeared offered by my mentor. This path offered a way out of the small town I grew up in and my uneventful life. This path though promising was a dangerous path. It would force me to decide between my old friends and a new friend between the life I knew I would have and a life unknown. Lance had always been there for me a friend when I needed it but never promising what I wanted. Silas saw me when I thought I was nothing just a failure at being mage always overshadowed by Lance. He made me feel special like I had a reason to be here. Lance was the path I knew so well the path that had been plotted out. Silas's path was winding and curving every step and turn was a secret I could unlock. His was the path I took lured towards it by the song no one else could hear.
