A Sketch of Phonology in Koyaga as Spoken by Karamokos in Mankono

About The Book

Generally speaking a sketch allows the reader to skim the basic information of the material in hands. Thus the following survey briefly introduces some of Koyaga phonological phenomena. Additionally the whole survey is hung over by the shadow of what may be called “Universalism”. Koyaga is a variety of Manding spoken in Mankono and its surrounding villages. Mankono is a town in the Centre-Western part of Côte d'Ivoire located in Western Africa within the latitude and longitude of 08° 00 N 05º 00 W. Koyaga is genetically classified in the Mande sub-family within the Niger-Congo phylum. The main concerns in this survey are segments syllables the underlying rules conditioning segments' alternations and the interaction between those rules in terms of ordering.
