About The Book

The protagonist of ‘A Slice of Heaven’ is Robin Sanyal a boy of 4 - 5 years who had lost his biological mother Sulekha who was an expert Veena player. Robin’s father Barin Sanyal a Professor of English married again and his new wife started maltreating Robin. The boys uncle Shantanu Sanyal rescued the boy and adopted him as his son. Shantanu Sanyal is a publisher. His friend Arunavo Banerjee is a professor teaching history at Osmania University. Arunavo’s friend is Sanjay Banerji a tea garden owner. These three friends along with their wives and kids travel to different places in Jharkhand including the DVC dams and hill stations in North Bengal around Darjeeling. During such journeys they tell each other small stories. Arunavo had lectured on parts of Bengal history. The book has pathos but in the midst of tears smiles sparkle like little waves in a big lake shining in the moonlight.
