They were arranged and grouped by topic by the journalist and close associate of Roosevelt Mr. Horace Markley.</p><p></p><p>The overarching theme is 'the Square Deal' the political tagline for Theodore Roosevelt's domestic agenda. It was meant to level the playing field for everyone and hold everyone to a clear and fair standard. This meant raising the standards for workers with common sense safety and hygiene rules. It meant raising the standard on labor by restricting child labor. It meant breaking up trusts i.e. monopolies among railroads. It meant passing laws to clean up meatpacking plants. It meant equal protection for black and white Americans.
