The insurance industry was opened up in India in 2000 which led to the rapid entry of players into the industry. With the IRDA (insurance regulator) in place the data analysis shows a rapid growth in the business in the sector. This book looks into the trend of business during the last decade. The contents of the book have been divided in such a way that the initial part discusses the basics of insurance. The later part of the book however discusses the findings of the empirical study. The analysis highlights two aspects one on the efficiency aspect and the second on the productivity aspect of non-life insurers during the study period. For the purpose the author has used Data Envelopment Approach (DEA) a non-parametric method. For qualitative improvement of analysis bootstrapping is used that follows the iterative procedure. The book is a perfect one for academicians researchers and also for industry representatives to get a true and detailed picture of the performance of the industry in general and the insurers in particular.
