A Study with Male Fathers

About The Book

The act of adoption is an intriguing subject that generates many different debates and controversies especially in the legal and psychosocial spheres. The adoption-paternity-homosexuality relationship calls for further reflection given that society has undergone major transformations in the family sphere and in the social roles of men and women. The aim of this study was to analyse the perception of paternity and adoption among male parents in the context of homosexuality. This is a descriptive field study with a qualitative approach. The sample used was non-probabilistic for convenience. Five homosexual male parents aged 35-55 who had adopted children took part. The instruments used were a semi-structured interview containing specific questions about the object of study in question and a socio-demographic questionnaire with questions about age income occupation etc. The interviews were analysed according to inclusion procedures in ex post facto Thematic Categories.
