This is Volume 4 of a 4 volume set. Dr. Dorner was one of the profoundest and most learned theologians of the nineteenth century. David S. Schaff Isaak August Dorner (1809-1884) was educated at the University of Tubingen where he studied under F.C. Baur. His academic career led him to posts at Keil Konigsberg Bonn Gottingen and Berlin. Dorner established his reputation with the publication of History of the Development of the Doctrine of the Person of Christ an indirect response to Strauss. One of the most noteworthy of the mediating theologians he has been ranked with Friedrich Schleiermacher August Neander Karl Nitzsch Julius Mueller and Richard Rothe.
