The book deals with the Marxist urbanspace theory developed by David Harvey between theearly 1970s and the mid of 1990s. The distinctivefeature of his works is seen in his attempt to insertspatial phenomenon into Marx's own social andeconomic theory. It is an attempt to construct'historico-geographical materialism' upon Marx'historical materialism. He tries to achieves thispurpose first criticizing liberal approaches to urbanspace. The book is a positive Marxist evaluation ofHarvey's Marxist urban space theory.
