About The Book

The Internet was established in the early 1970s for military purposes. The U.S. Department of Defense created a network of computers called the ARPANET so that the military in different areas could communicate securely. By the early 1980s newsgroups and electronic mail had been created. Most users were from universities and libraries. In the 1980s large commercial companies began to build private Internets.
