A VISION TOWARDS ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

The Technical University Luis Vargas Torres of Esmeraldas (UTLVTE) is a public higher education institution that has been legally operating since 1970. It was created on May 21 1970 by Executive Decree 436 issued by the President of the Republic at that time Dr. José María Velasco Ibarra and its first Rector was Dr. Luis Prado Viteri.In 2012 the evaluation process of all universities and polytechnic schools in Ecuador was carried out placing UTLVTE in category D of the Higher Education system.In 2013 UTLVTE was intervened by the Higher Education Council - CES due to administrative academic and financial irregularities detected and from that year until July 2017 four teams of interveners (administrative academic and research) succeeded each other which did not contribute significantly to the orientation and takeoff of the alma mater of Esmeraldas.
