<p><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>In the 1960s Rose Tomlinson arrives in Canada from Jamaica on a three-week invitation letter from her dear friend Cynthia. The two had been childhood friends from Jamaica and had remained close although Cynthia had moved to Canada. </span></p><p></p><p><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>Rose is happy to leave her abusive husband although not at the cost of leaving her four children with her elderly mother Mari who is often sick. It is a decision that Rose struggles with but to provide a better life for her children common sense prevails.</span></p><p></p><p><span style=color: rgba(0 0 0 1)>The decision to stay in Canada is a tough one.
