1917 was a significant year for Russia. Within a few months the Tsar abdicated a provisional government was formed and shortly afterwards the Bolsheviks seized power. The question addressed in this paper is: How can Lenin and the events that took place in Russia in 1917 be incorporated into GSP lessons? To this end four groups will be formed in the class to examine the events of that year in the form of a portfolio. The groups will cover the following topics: 'The February Revolution and Lenin's exile in Switzerland' 'Lenin's return in a sealed train carriage and his April Theses' 'The dual power and the failed July uprising' and 'The October Revolution under Trotsky.' The content of the work is based on literary studies of books about Lenin and the October Revolution. The didactic approach to the project is the result of our own reflections.
