ACCELERATED ORTHODONTICS

Nowadays there is an increased tendency for researchers to focus on accelerating methods for tooth movement due to the huge demand by adults for a shorter orthodontic treatment time. Also long orthodontic treatment time poses several disadvantages including a higher predisposition to caries gingival recession and root resorption and decreased patient cooperation. Several attempts have been made to create different approaches both preclinically and clinically to achieve quicker results. However still there are a lot of uncertainties and unanswered questions about most of these techniques.
