Access to employment for students graduating from Guinean universities

About The Book

This study deals with the question of access to their first job of the students of the graduating class of 2006 to 2009 of the Lansana County General University of Sonfonia-Conakry. During the course of this study the obstacles that these students encounter in accessing their first job were explained. In order to reach this explanation documentary research and interviews were privileged. The model of explanation in this study focused on three theories. Methodological individualism which places individual job search behaviours at the centre of interpretation. Symbolic interactionism which accounts for the affirmation of a plural individual an individual confronted with risks and more or less endowed with economic social educational and cultural resources to cope with them. As for social constructivism it highlights the relationship between employment and training which seems somewhat insufficient hence the individual''s recourse to adaptation in relation to the labour market. Through these theories the links that can exist between access to employment and the field or department the strategy and the qualification of students were highlighted.
