Accuracy of linear measurements on Conv. IOPAR & PSP System

About The Book

Dentists have measured linear distances in the jaws predominantly by using conventional radiographs. The development of digital dental radiography and computer software in the 1980s however has completely revolutionized and changed the fashion in which we radiographically evaluate the linear dimensions. The traditional method for measuring distances on conventional films has been to use calibrated rulers or a vernier calliper manually. Over the past few years measuring distances in digital images using computer software has become more common in clinical longitudinal studies and in time will probably replace the manual measuring methods. The present study was undertaken to explore the accuracy of dimensional measurements of images obtained using photostimulable phosphor system and to compare it with conventional film based Intra Oral Periapical images.
