Eleanor H. Porter was an American author known for her optimistic and uplifting stories. Her most famous work Pollyanna published in 1913 tells the story of a young girl who embraces a positive and optimistic outlook on life even in the face of adversity. The character Pollyanna became synonymous with the concept of finding joy and gratitude in all circumstances. Porter also wrote a sequel to Pollyanna called Pollyanna Grows Up in 1915 which follows the protagonist as she faces new challenges and continues to spread her optimistic philosophy. In addition to the Pollyanna series Eleanor H. Porter wrote several other novels and stories including Just David The Tangled Threads and Miss Billy among others.
