Acting the Nabob

Actor Ben Summersby must impersonate his wealthy cousin Josh in an attempt to flush out a gang of fraudsters in Shropshire. He sees this as a chance to redeem himself for past sins and is keen to succeed. Opera dancer Alice Buck needs to get out of London quickly. Her feckless brother has sold her to a vicious crime lord in payment of gambling debts. When she learns of Ben's mission she forces him to take her with him as Josh's wife. As they travel across England they get to know one another and attraction grows between them despite misunderstandings. When Alice is abducted by the villain's henchmen how can Ben save her brother from murderers and still find her in time?
