Advanced Comprehension at the Doctor Awesome English Academy

South Korea's high-stakes academic world runs on pressure ambition and profit. At the heart of it all hums the private cram school a relentless engine driving students toward success. But behind the glossy ads and glowing storefronts of the country's booming English industry lies a grittier truth: some of these academies aren't dedicated to education; they're devoted to the bottom line. Welcome to the back rooms of one such school a place where ambition curdles into chaos. Told through the eyes of a misfit language instructor this collection of interconnected shorts rips back the curtain of a cash-hungry academy more concerned with profit margins than pedagogy. Inside you'll enter a world loaded with journeying deadbeats chasing easy money drug-addled seekers running from their pasts pouncing tiger moms obsessed with their children's grades and brain-fried admins struggling to keep the sinking ship afloat. As the narrator stumbles through this pressure-cooker environment the search for meaning community and escape becomes increasingly urgent and absurd. Advanced Comprehension at the Doctor Awesome Language Academy is a wild darkly comic portrait of life abroad where the promise of a fresh start collides with the messy reality of a system that's anything but educational.
