About The Book

Originally written by Arthur Conan Doyle these adventure stories brought a brilliant character in lime light. That person was Sharlock Holmes.  Conan Doyle pointed out the fact that Holmes was inspired by the real life figure of Joseph Bell a surgeon by profession whom the author met in 1877 and had worked for as a clerk. Bell was also capable of drawing broad conclusions from minute observations. Link between medical investigation and detection of crime was perfectly pitched in by Doyle. Details of the life of Sharlock Holmes in the stories are scarce and often vague. It offers a loose biographical sketch of the detective. Earlier stories developed by the author furing his tenures of graduation. Later on some more plots were incorporated in this collection afterwards as sets of notions forwarded to him by his fellow friends.
