Adverbial Nouns in CNN and BBC Online Arabic News

It is rare to find a book or study that aims to investigate the adverbial use of Arabic in real life. Hence this book comes to guide researchers on adverbial nouns (or ظُرُوفُ الزَمَانِ /Ḍhurūfu az-zamāni/ and ظَرْفُ المَكَانِ /Ḍharfu al-makāni/) by authentically identifying their meanings usages and types. Particularly it analyses and describes two of the most frequently used words in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) namely بَعْدَ /ba’da/ (after after [that]) and قَبْلَ /qabla/ (before ago) in two prominent Arabic news websites: CNN and BBC. Three linguistic qualities are addressed in the practical part of this book: semantic values and cohesive functions syntactic features and idiomatic usages. This book can positively impact AFL teachers and learners as well as Arabic lexicographers and grammarians.
