Follow the career of John Lewis from a 16-year-old Air Radar apprentice to an Avionics Engineer in the Royal Air Force during the majority of the Cold War with the Soviet Union and the Warsaw pact countries. The author details the various RAF stations he served on during his 29 years in uniform from the late 1960s until the late 1990s listing the myriad squadron aircraft he maintained and the local history associated with each of those stations. Coupled with countless anecdotes it is a truly comprehensive insight into life in uniform and later as a Project Manager in the Ministry of Defence.This is a very personal account into the challenges faced by an airman and his family being a member of the armed forces.
