African American Composition of Army Aviation

<p>American society and the armed forces have made significant progress since the revolutionary war toward integrating Blacks in American society as well as the armed forces. While significant progress has been made there are social and cultural issues that still plague our society. This research paper will explore whether Blacks in Army aviation compose a percentage that is proportionate to their composition of American society? This research paper looks holistically at the Army the armed forces and social issues relevant to Blacks serving in the military. It begins by looking at the first large scale use of Blacks in the armed forces and the dominant belief that the Black man was intellectually inferior which led to many hardships and privations. Hardships and privations will be explored at length along with the role society played in shaping military policy. It is also necessary to examine accomplishments by Blacks in order to refute the Army War College Study of 1925 which negatively affected the military and the effort by Blacks to serve in combat during World War II.</p><p>This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
