AFRICAN METAPHYSICS

This book flows from the conviction that Africa has a wide array of philosophy richly embedded in her culture and tradition mostly expressed in oral form. Odera Oruka calls this philosophical sagacity. On what rational ground do we stand to elaborate an African metaphysics? The answer is simply that if there is such a rational enterprise as an African philosophy then of necessity there must also be an African metaphysics given that metaphysics is a subset of African philosophy. And since African philosophy encompasses all forms and types of philosophizing it therefore follows that it does make sense to talk of an African metaphysics just as it is sensible to talk of an African epistemology African Logic African ethics aesthetics and an African philosophy of education.
