The book examines the relevance of the African ancestral wisdom in democratic practice and development. Based on tenets of the postmodern theory such as fluidity subjectivity impermanence and incredulity towards metanarratives Kom proverbs in Cameroon are analysed to demonstrate that the time tested African ancestral wisdom can be exploited as a guide for an orderly and peaceful democratic practice in African communities. The author argues from an ethnographic perspective that the wit expressed in the Kom proverb could enhance a peaceful political practice and development in Kom and elsewhere in Africa.
