African Youth And Political Crimes: A Call For Moral Re-engagement

Prior to colonialism Western-type democracy was to the Muslim youths a remote tale told only in books peddled only among Islamic scholars. An aftermath of colonialism have been the rising awareness amongst nations for the world to come together to share in the triumphs and travails of humanity. This thought ensued in globalization which propagates democracy across the world. Inevitably African nations embraced the global trend in governance and the Muslim youth participated in party politics. Given this scenario the author explores the nature prospects and challenges of Northern Nigerian Muslim youth participation in party politics. He discovered some negative strains which have tainted their involvement in party politics. The litany of violence political assassination corruption and vote rigging were largely perpetrated by the youth goaded by the political overlords. This malady he concludes is alien to the character of the Northern Nigerian Muslim youth. The remedy he suggests lies in the moral rejuvenation of the Muslim youth in ways he has peculiarly identified in this book.
