While Melissa struggles to get a foothold in Fleetwood's medical community John Anderson becomes Zach's mentor and the affection between the family and Zach grows.</p><p> Overwhelmed by the constant interference of her ex-boyfriend's family Melissa admits defeat and offers to work for Zach in his refurbished garage. As she searches for employment in the medical field two things keep her tied to Fleetwood: her gravely ill mother and growing affection for Zach.</p><p> After Zach's assault his brother arrives on the scene and following an argument with Melissa cuts off all contact with the man Melissa has come to love.
